All LL.B. students will select their preferred electives in the Fourth Year according to their desired academic path in consultation with their academic advisor. The College of Law and International Relations currently offers three unique tracks for LL.B. graduates to choose from, namely Diplomacy & International Relations, International Law, and Government & Public Policy.

When selecting one of the three tracks, Fourth Year students will take six (6) compulsory law courses in the Fall Semester totalling 18 credit hours (see Figure 1), and any five (5) of the specialised courses within their preferred track totalling 15 credit hours (see Figure 2.0 – 2.2).

I. Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) – Diplomacy & International Relations

Our LL.B. in Diplomacy & International Relations is an innovative, interdisciplinary, taught course that provides graduates with the expertise required for successful careers in international diplomacy environments. This track aims to equip LL.B. graduates with a comprehensive understanding of the core issues related to the theory and practice of strategy and diplomacy. Graduates will be able to explore the nexus between strategy and diplomacy within the context of the changing global environment. This track focuses on the understanding of strategic and security issues, diplomacy, interstate relations, foreign policy, defence policy and regional issues. This track will be of interest for graduates, who aspire for a career in department of foreign affairs and other government ministries, international political and financial organisations, the armed forces, aid agencies, non-governmental organisations, think-tanks, and international businesses.

II. Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) – International Law

This LL.B. track provides an exciting foundation for graduates wishing to pursue legal careers within a globalised world. Multi-national law firms operate across many jurisdictions with legal problems involving both regional and international laws, requiring lawyers to understand the complexities of the international legal system. Our LL.B. in International Law course is a qualifying law degree, which provides a great introduction to this context of law and an insight into the world’s major legal scholarships.
